Movin' and a Shakin'

I have to start off by saying that E is around...I'm not leaving her out. But she's potty training, which means she is spending more time running back and forth to the potty than anything else. Which doesn't make for the best of pictures, and in the event that she finds this blog one day I don't want to embarrass her too much.

In the meantime A is just a ball of adventure. She is getting everywhere and anywhere her little heart desires. It's so fun, I feel like she is always playing hide and seek with me. And every time I find her she greets me with that adorable smile of hers.

A is also doing awesome with her cloth diapers, I'm so glad I went back to them. The first time I used them I think she was just too little and the diapers seemed to overwhelm her. Now it's no difference than the disposable.

Today was a busy day... A took a 2 hour morning nap, which has never happened. Then the girls and I ran a couple of errands (went to the farm to tend the garden) and then back home for lunch and naps. They both took great mid-day naps as well so I made homemade raviolis. I had stopped by the farmers market during the week (much cheaper than the weekend one!) and picked up a pumpkin squash. Talk about a score...$2.00 and I made baby food for A (enough for many meals), raviolis for Hubs, E and I and I baked up the seeds for yummy on-the-go snacks for me! Talk about stretching that money.

The recipe I used was kind of made up, but I'm in the process of jotting it down since it was so yummy. I will be sure to share it with y'all soon.

Potty Training Week 1 - Complete

Talk about Highs and Lows! This past week has been just that. We are one full week into potty training E. Some days are great others...well lets just say we go thru lots of cleaning supplies and underwear!

All-in-all E seems to really enjoy her big girl undies. It's seems to have unleashed some sort of extra creativity in her. E has always been a girly girl, super into showing off her dresses and shoes. But all of a sudden she accessories, and is trying everything in a million different ways. It's hard to describe but easy to show in pictures.

This is just one of about a few dozen that I haven't taken pictures of. It's just not always possible to capture all of E's quirky-ness on camera.

Right now E is still adjusting to the potty. She goes on every 30 minutes or so and sometimes she goes...other times she wets her pants. Either way she is not afraid of the potty or sitting on it. She even pulls up or puts on new undies, flushes, washes her hands, turns off the light, and closes the bathroom door every time she sits down...100% on her own! So no doubt she 'gets' it. I just need to get my timing better.

Any suggestions?

And I am still using the cloth diapers for A and its awesome, so worth it!

Try it Tuesday

I have to be honest, I did this for just a few days about 5 months ago. But as of this week I'm back to 90%. What am I talking about? Cloth diapers. Since E is potty training I thought let's go as diaper free as we can!

I also went back to regular diapers with A because I had so many still left over from E. When I was pregnant with E I bought diapers every chance I got. Little was I to know E would grow faster than anyone could believe and we had many diapers left over. 

So back to cloth diapers...

It's not that big of a deal once you figure it all out. And you can save more money but the obvious...not throwing out diapers after one use, but you can get awesome deals on cloth diapers at Zulily and EcoBaby which can cost up to 60% less than buying at a traditional store.

You may be thinking, yuck what a mess...I know I did before I had kids. But it's not that bad. I hooked up a sprayer to our toliet and clean those dirty diapers and they all go in a special water proof bag. At the end of my day I throw them in the wash and dryer and in the morning I'm ready to go again. 

I also use cloth wipes too. And it's as easy as the diapers.

The money saving is great but the girls have super sensitive skin and using these diapers on A has been so great for her! So I'm one full week in to it and its been great. I'm so happy that we are doing this!
